Bush Holds 1st Cabinet Meeting Since Aug.

Just a few hours after Bush said:
"So today I want to speak to every person
who voted for my opponent. To make this nation stronger and better, I
will need your support and I will work to earn it. I will do all I can
do to deserve your trust. A new term is a new opportunity to reach out
to the whole nation."

He releases his 2nd term agenda:
"He pledged to keep up the fight against terrorism, press for stable
democracies in Iraq and Afghanistan, simplify the tax code, allow
younger workers to invest some of their Social Security
withholdings in the stock market, continue to raise accountability
standards in public schools and "uphold our deepest values and family
and faith."
Other items include reforms to the
nation's intelligence community, halving the record $413 billion
deficit, expanding health care coverage, a constitutional ban on gay
marriage and moving "this goodhearted nation toward a culture of life."

--

A "simplified tax code" AKA Flat Tax

Privatized Social Security

"Raised accountability standards in public schools" AKA Justifying taking away their funding and moving to a voucher system

A Constitutial ammendment banning gay marriage

Banning abortion (yet still following the notion of "a culture of life" by sending our troops over to kill and be killed)

His efforts to "reach out to the whole nation" are astounding.

Wednesday, November 03, 2004

It's hailing in the Bay Area and there's thunder and lighting. God is angry. I sense the Apocolypse is near.

Friday, September 03, 2004

Gmail just gave me a bunch of invites. Anyone want an account? You get 1 GB of space for free.

Wednesday, September 01, 2004

Florida Officials Maintain Hand Recounts Ban

Tuesday, August 31, 2004

Oh, as long as I'm making recommendations, I rented a great movie recently, Goodbye, Lenin! It's a German movie about the life of a family living in East Berlin at the time of reunification. It's a drama/comedy (dramedy) and it's done very well. The score is done by the same guy who did the music for Amelie, Yann Thiersen.

Tuesday, August 31, 2004

I just downloaded the Franz Ferdinand CD. I like it.

Hopefully I can get down to L.A. to visit often. Keep me in mind for your free tickets--if you tell me you have one available, that may be all the excuse I need to make a visit. I'll miss everyone a lot, so be sure to email/IM/call me whenever you have the chance--I'll be really happy to hear from you. I hope everyone has a great year and hopefully I'll be back in So Cal as soon as possible.

Wednesday, August 25, 2004

The whole Swift Boat thing is turning into a bitch fight.

Read this article: Cleland Tries to Deliver Letter to Bush

Cleland is the triple amputee Vietnam Vet, former Democratic Senator of Georgia who was attempting to deliver a letter condemning the Swift Boat ads to Bush on his Texas ranch on behalf of nine other veteran senators.

The worst quote in the article was this one:

"A Texas state official and Vietnam veteran, Jerry Patterson, said someone from the Bush campaign contacted him Wednesday morning and asked him if he would travel to the ranch, welcome Cleland to Texas and accept the former senator's letter to Bush.

'I tried to accept that letter and he would not give it to me,' said Patterson. 'He would not face me. He kept rolling away from me. He's quite mobile.'"

Then the Bush campaign attempts to deliver a complaint to the Kerry campaign's accusations in that I'm-not-speaking-to-you, Tell-Max-to-tell-Jon-that-he's-a-big-doo-doo-head manner:

"Patterson, who spoke with the president on the phone, said the campaign asked him to give Cleland a letter for Kerry written by the Bush campaign and signed by Patterson and seven other veterans.

'You can't have it both ways,' the letter said. 'You can't build your convention and much of your campaign around your service in Vietnam, and then try to say that only those veterans who agree with you have a right to speak up.'"

(Not that Kerry's saying they don't have a right to speak, they just don't have the right to make what they claim are false, slanderous accusations.)

Who else is getting sick of this whole thing?
